As cool as: Yemi Alade

Yemi Alade (or Yemi Alabae as we prefer to call her) is a Nigerian afro pop singer who came into the limelight with her hit single, Johnny. But we care more about her style than her search for Johnny. Yemi Alade’s style is a breath of fresh air in the music industry. From her quirky hairstyles to her Afrocentric fashion sense, you can’t have a reason to hate her.

So some quick fun facts about Yemi Alade,

She wears mostly African prints, and is fondly referred to as a”Yoruba-Igbo” girl because of her mixed heritage. She is a natural haired beaut and our style crush for the week. She describes her style as unique and her approach to fashion as different and peculiar. Late last year, she launched her jewelry collection with Bland2Glam. She also used the opportunity to launch her foundation, Get Mented, an organization set to assist young women in the society. Check out a sneak peek of the collection in this video.

But as much as we love Yemi Alade, we can never forget this unforgivable fail. Thankfully it was way back in 2010 and we know it can never happen again.
